Every May, the damask roses of the Bekaa foothills are picked before sunrise and in the copper still by mid-morning — flower water waits for no one. This distillery works roses, bitter-orange blossom and wild herbs in small batches, water and steam and nothing else.
The stills came from the founder's grandmother, who distilled for her village; the recipes are hers too. Each bottle names the harvest village and distillation day, because mazaher from May and mazaher from July are different perfumes.
