Vignes de Batroun

Batroun's limestone terraces grew wine for the Phoenicians before France knew the grape, and this small domaine works old-vine Obeidi and Merwah alongside Cinsault, dry-farmed at altitude, harvested by the village at first light.
The cellar intervenes as little as the law allows: native yeasts, long élevage, sulphur at bottling only. Production is a few thousand cases; most of it never leaves Lebanon, which makes the lots that do travel worth following.
